Part of the extravaganza? I think not.

While this is, indeed, a great movie (that I'm pretty sure is for kids), it's not animated. So I had some trouble deciding whether or not to include it. However, it's clearly called the "Uber awesome child cartoon movie extravaganza spectacular," so I went against it for some reason.

Of course, I am talking about the classic halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. Yes, it is classic, you silly old people. So anyways, before I watched it again, I was going to say something about Sarah Jessica Parker not being as slutty then, but quickly realized that that would have been a complete lie. She sure could sing, though, as will be shown in the clips. Even so, she was my favorite of the sisters way back when because 1: she was the only one who was relatively pretty, and 2: kids don't notice sluttiness. Or, at least I didn't.

That's enough talk of that, though. It was enjoyable, even with the whole "protagonist from Cali-frickin-fornia" thing. I must say, I loved the witches' characters this time around for some reason. They were just so fun and interesting, I guess. I don't know. Let's just go to clips now.

I was having a bit of trouble deciding between three music-y clips until I found them all in one video. Enjoy, the cat spell, I put a spell on you, and come little children.

Meh. Enjoy.

Does everyone know what day it is?!

It's halloween! The day of spirits, magic, candy, zombies, various other undead, and some random other stuff! I do believe 'tis my favorite holiday, which is very ironic seeing as a great deal of the fun associated with it comes from being with friends--which I've lately been lacking. Still, I've always loved horror stories and learning about ghosts and vampires and all that good stuff, so I have always loved halloween. Don't see why that should change now. So I am going to set a fire in the fireplace and make jell-o and watch history channel and do bunches of other fun stuff at home! All whilst eating the candy that we got "for trick-or-treaters" (even though none ever show up--the people in this neighborhood always take their kids to the rich Cary neighborhood nearby).

To start off the day, I give you The Raven as told by The Simpsons in the original Treehouse of Horror (back when they were really good). I know it's not the entire poem (They don't even say "'Prophet!' said I, 'thing of evil!--prophet still, if bird or devil!" And it's in the poem twice!) but we gotta live with it. Still entertaining, nonetheless.

It's read by Darth Vader, too. Neat, eh?

I still wonder how they did the stop-motion with those skinny li'l legs of Jack's

I lied. I'll give you a movie today, because I've seen it within a couple years and thereby remember it enough to make a post about it. I was saving it for tomorrow, but I thought of a much better one for then (though it isn't a cartoon, so I'm not certain whether it belongs in the extravaganza or not--I'll figure that out).

So today's movie ended up being The Nightmare Before Christmas. I know I saw it and loved it when I was a kid, but that was way back when I was, like, five. Then I got into high school and made friends with the punk-ish people (I tend to always fall in with the oddballs somehow) who were all obsessed with this movie. I then decided to show it at one of my little halloween parties I used to have back when I had friends (usually my four middle school friends. Oddly enough, the high school friends were never included in these). Yeah, I loved it as expected, and still do. Danny Elfman (extremely ironic name, if you knew me back in middle school) is about tied with John Williams for my favorite modern composer. I think I'll give you two songs this time around.

First, the exciting and perhaps slightly creepy (in any given Tim Burton movie, what isn't?) intro song:

Secondly, I present the fun, creepy, and gambling-ish-themed Oogie Boogie song:

Man, now that I watch that it makes me kinda sad. Poor santa. Oh well, I need to get to schooling now. If I do a lot today, I get halloween off tomorrow! :-D

Ninjas and another excuse

First off, I apologize for not having watched a movie for today, for it was last night that I discovered the fact that the sixth seaon of scrubs was not, in fact, the last season as everyone involved with the show repeatedly said. So I was busy mourning over the fact that I'd missed the first episode last week.

To make up for it, I'll give you a special report from The Onion: Ninja Parade!

Ninja Parade Slips Through Town Unnoticed Once Again

Also, I'll try to be fun today and tomorrow, because "This is halloween! This is halloween!" We got Reese's and Butterfinger for all 0 kids who will be coming around trick-or-treating, so the fact that I'll end up eating them all has put me in a rather good mood. So I'll be as fun as one can be while trying to write a novella that should be pretty much finished by mid-december. Yeah, I'll be fun anyways. Heck, it's halloween (tomorrow)! *cackles like Hillary*

Excuses, excuses

So the little chat after dinner lated longer than expected, so I did not get a chance to watch a movie for y'all last night. I have tang soo do tonight, soon after which the next episode of Heroes is coming on. After that, I'll try my very hardest to watch one. Until then, enjoy this next campaign poster for The One Party!

From the same show as Lust (Fullmetal Alchemist!). By the way, I'm having a good deal of trouble thinking of something for the other 5 sins, so if you think of one, i'd love to know what it is. :)

That wasn't flying! That was falling with style!

You get a movie today! I feel a little bad for hardly having any movies for the past week, so I decided to be real nice and watch one for ya last night before heading over to my sister's to watch Heroes. Now, ain't I just the best?

As indicated by the title, the movie today is Toy Story. It was the first ever CGI animated film, and was a huge success. The studios don't seem to realize that what made it a success was more than likely the really good story and not so much the CGI, but that's a topic for a different post. The point is that it was, indeed, a pretty great movie, made back when Disney wasn't so stupid and the actors in there actually still had careers (I absolutely loved Home Improvement while growing up. But that'll be for another post as well).

No song time today, however, since Toy Story doesn't really have any songs. At least not the usual Disney musical songs. However, I shall produce the trailer from way back when (at least I think it's the trailer. Forgive me if it's not, I was five when this came out).

What the heck, here's the intro song (cheesy as crap, but still cute).

I've realized that I really miss VHS. I know, DVDs are all sleek and you don't have to rewind them or fast-forward through the previews and and all that nonsense, but you could fast-forward through the FBI warnings! Remember that? Remember how horrible you felt the first moment you realized that you'd never be able to just skip through that scheiß ever again? Screw all this new stuff and all the special features and compact space, I want to be able to do that again. Oh well, I guess I'll live with it. Got no more to say at the moment, so I'll see you later. Don't know if I'll be able to watch one tonight, but I will certainly try. :)

I haven't done one of these in a while

New campaign poster!!!

I swear, I haven't seen that show in ages. Honestly! Really, truly!

Expect a li'l surprise tomorrow. In the afternoon, of course, since I won't be here in the morning (Goin' to watch Heroes with my sister! WHOOOOOO!). See ya then!

It's too bad they're french

I did, in fact, watch a childhood movie on thursday night. However, friday was completely hectic, especially seeing as a relative came down from VA to get the interior, among other things, from B.I.L.T.B.'s car (in the pouring rain, might I add) and was staying with us. However, he left this morning, and I have little to do but carve pumpkins today, so I'm making up for it now!

So today's movie is Beauty and the Beast! I must say, everyone was a lot dumber than I remembered them, but it was still a beautiful movie. For example, instead of, "My father's cold and sick in the woods, I have to leave you so I can take him back to the town where we never fit in and be ambushed by Gaston," it could easily have been, "My father's cold and sick in the woods, I (or we both) can go get him and bring him back to the castle where he'll be far safer and more comfortable than back in town." Of course, that would make it harder to bring closure to the whole Gaston storyline, so I guess they have to compromise somewhere. Belle is still high among my favorite princesses, though.

Song time! As always, first up is the love song about love:

Second comes the song that personifies the way every male I've met age 21 or under feels about himself:

Alright, I'm just kidding. I may have met one who didn't... just having trouble thinking of who, at the moment. :-P

Dude, that Big Ben scene was absolutely insane

Now that I've lost all my few people worth of readership, I finally wached another movie last night! I couldn't make the post until now because I have been completely swamped all day. On the plus side, we finished my transcript and it is being overnight-ed to the university now. We also got my SAT scores, which were all pretty impressive (Personally, I'm not that pleased with my math score, but it's still fairly above average. Not above the average NCSU freshman, though).

But you don't care about that. So my movie today is The Great Mouse Detective. I don't believe I've ever categorized it as my absolute favorite movie, but it's been consistently high on that list for years. This is an odd occurence, because it really doesn't have all that much comedy. Of course, I may not have noticed this before, as I found Jurassic Park completely hilarious as a kid.

So it's a likely candidate for one of the reasons I wanted to be a detective back then, too. It was probably a mix of many things, though. Harriet the Spy and random Olsen twins books (I believe they named themselves "The Trenchcoat Twins" in those) were also large factors. Lawd, I don't know. 'Twas a fun time in my life anyhow.

There are actually very few songs in this movie, but I'll still give you a couple and one more awesome clip. First, the "OMG, this would never fly in a kid's movie nowadays, but it's still real catchy" song:

alt : http://www.youtube.com/v/e2IctxaCPqw
Then the obligatory awesome villain song (the volume's messed up, so you'll have to turn up the volume to hear the awesomeness of Vincent Price):

alt : http://www.youtube.com/v/5mBHAggsS-s
Lastly, Basil going insane for what is probably the 37th time in the movie (Snap! Boom! Twang! Dunk! Splat!):

Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go watch tomorrow's movie.

I am ashamed of you all

Not a single (political) blog that I've been to at any point within the last two years has had this picture. Tsk tsk. I'm only forgiving you on the assumption that this was only recently created, as the title of the Fwd: email where I got it was "Halloween's coming..."

Would've been better had they made her more like Umbridge, though. It would have been far less of a stretch than the Harry-esque features they did give her.

Yeah, the URL is from myspace. I only put it up there since this place won't let me upload pictures directly from my computer for some odd reason and I couldn't find it in my google image searches for it.
