A short comment

Hippies be warned.

Watching GOP debates and the like, I find that I have something to say that I wish one of these guys would mention sometime. On the subject of illegal immigration and the immigrants "taking jobs Americans won't do," it would be really nice if someone would mention that these companies hire illegals to do these jobs because their labor is cheaper. Their labor is cheaper because they don't obey our laws such as minimum wage. Thus: abolish minimum wage, and the problem of labor is most likely solved. Yet another instance of the government only solving a problem by creating many more.

That is all. Danke schön.

Now that it's been probably about a week since the last post...

I get to make up excuses about why that is. Let's see, I made thanksgiving dinner on thursday. I recovered from thanksgiving on friday. I carried logs to the firewood pile and sticks to the sticks-to-be-burned-soon pile on saturday. Went shootin' on sunday (and realized that I suck now, since my mom hasn't taken me to the range since they all made me start playing WoW). And the past two days, I did the same two things: worked like crazy on my grad. project (due on approximately the 14th... and very not finished currently) and went to tang soo do. So there.

Hazel will try to take over soon and the extravaganza may or may not continue, but, as I said last week, no promises. Until whenever, enjoy the Ask A Ninja commentary on the writer's strike!

Thanks be to Halls, Sudafed (the pseudoephedrine kind that you can't get OTC anymore because of meth labs), and Tylenol (Ibuprofen too)

...for making my cold fairly painless. I am now ready to start making pies and preparing the turkey (and posibly making pea salad) for thanksgiving! That will begin about an hour from now... and I should probably eat breakfast of a sort between now and then. So I'll go do that soon.

Hazel might be posting something soon, but I can't gurantee anything.

Either way, nothing until at least friday, since my sister (unless she's sick) and I are making thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Sorry about the long breaks lately, but things have just been busy, busy, busy! So until I manage to become interesting again, enjoy (yet another) Robot Chicken clip! This was the first one I ever saw, so it has a special place in my heart. I'll try to get one from Family Guy or something next time. :)

Sorry about the two borders, but this was the only one I found on there, and I'm guessing it's only still up because the [adultswim] border was included. See you sometime!

I do believe I have a cold

...And just im time to clean the house and make pies for thanksgiving! Darn kids at tang soo do.

So here's a One Party poster, since I can't think of anything else and I'm being pressured to get on WoW right now (though I really don't feel like it). Enjoy, I guess.

Correct me if I've done this one before; I'm not really in thinking mode right now.

There's a gun show this weekend!

But alas, I must go shopping instead, as I am just about out of clothes. :(

Heh.

I haven't mentioned WoW lately. I also intended to quit after the free first month, but I think my mom reactivated my account, because if I can count correctly, it should have ended on the 13th, at latest. Speaking of my mom and her WoW obsession, she sent me a video about warlocks (which just happens to be my favorite class... because they rule). The singing sucks, but it's still funny. Enjoy!

For some reason, the song at the end is one of my favorite songs ever. Just something to hold you over until I can actually think.

Alright, I need to get to schooling. See ya later!

Wow, I never noticed just how gay that bird was...

I'm terribly sorry if that title offends any gays, I really have nothing against you guys. Let me say just which bird I'm talking about before we go any further. I am talking about the one in Thumbelina. Yes, this is an extravaganza post (go me)! So... yeah, I always hated him for some reason. Actually, there are probably plenty of reasons. He's a bird, he's french, I don't like the way he's drawn, and he's just generally annoying. Other than that, I suppose it's not a terribly horrible movie. It's got a good song or two, and I'm not sure how closely it follows the source material, since I have yet to get to reading the H.C. Andersen fairy tales (I have a book of those, and a book of the Grimm's  tales. I got the Grimm's first, though, and am about 1/4 of the way through those, and would sort of like to finish them before moving on to Mr. Andersen. I have a need to do things like that in a particular order; I don't know why). It's still pretty cute, regardless. Would have been much better without the bird (I hate birds with a passion, especially annoying french ones), but you learn to live with bothersome things.

Before I make myself seem like an idiot of sorts, let's move on to songs! Let Me Be Your Wings.

The next is a different player, because the only ones on Youtube were either completely out of sync (like, 3 seconds) or in a different language. So enjoy, you lucky people! Yer Beautiful, Baby (I love her gown in here).

Best songs in the movie, and *gasp!* the bird's nowhere to be seen! Coincidence? I think not.

Hey, in case you didn't know, Thumbelina's voice is also that of Ariel (You know, that little mermaid girl). Man, that woman is talented. Alright, catch ya later!

Patriotic rock

Do I even need to warn the hippies, or is the title blatant enough?

A few days ago on IMAO, there was a post about Drowning Pool that pout a big smile on my face. This is because rock is a flippin' awesome genre, and to have rock bands that don't despise this country just makes me all happy (I've actually just about stopped listening to Green Day--even the old stuff--because they're such [expletive]s now). This reminded me of another post on another blog about another great band (which actually seems to be a rap/rock hybrid, and can be pretty great when used correctly). This was, of course, the Stuck Mojo post on RWN, which is the 20th down here (arounf 2/3 of the way down). I'm a complete noob and was unable to find a permalink to the post, so forgive me.

Why does this deserve a post? Well, it's just nice to be reminded every once in a while that there are some people on the earth who don't hate you. And the fact that not all of those people (the ones who don't hate you) sing country music just makes me as giddy as John Edwards after a trip to the mall.

Heh, and now I'm listening to Iced Earth because of one of the comments on that IMAO post. Honestly, that seems to be one of the best places to find new bands--found a bunch of brit pop in the comments on another one. Silly, ain't it?

Long live patriot metal!

Announcement

The One Party would like to say that it supports Cave Troll for president. We will not say how much support we give Cave Troll, nor whether that amount is any more or less than any of our own candidates. They all like to think that they alone recieve all of the party's support. We let them think this, because if we told any one candidate differently, we would most likely die a horrible and gruesome, yet myserious death. Thank you for your time. That is all.

I am... SO sad that I don't own this movie

Due to the neglect that I've given my car over the past week, she has managed to leak enough antifreeze to start overheating yet again. This happened on my way to tang soo do, so I just said, "[expletive] it," and decided to turn back for now so that I may add more (probably more oil, too) before tomorrow's class. So now I have an hour during which time I would have been happily getting out some of the stress that my grad. project along with awating an answer from the university (not to mention my general insanity) has given me. Now, however, I will talk about a movie I haven't seen in a little while, but is absolutely one of the awesomest movies ever made (and not just child cartoon movies and whatnot. I mean any genre, any time).

This is, of course, The Emperor's New Groove, which may or may not have began the whole llama trend among us young'ns. Sadly, I never actually got around to buying it, so I don't own it... but it's still flippin' awesome. I mean, all the "be nice to people" talk in it does bother me a bit, but there are just so many hilarious and quotable lines all throughout the whole thing.

For example, Yzma's plan:

Then there's the ending, which seems almost entirely composed of these lines:

Alright, I'll go now and probably take a shower before watching Heroes (OMG, this episode looks mighty exciting!). So long, and remember:
